The "changing times" mentioned by German Chancellor Olaf Schulz in his speech to the Bundestag on October 1 confirmed the reality of this change. Therefore, from now on, the Federal Republic of Germany will invest in its defense sector. A constitutionally protected special fund for the Armed Forces will also be established with a total amount of €100 million. The German government is providing weapons for Ukraine's self-defense and has announced its continued commitment to European joint arms projects. The scale of these measures makes it clear that we are facing a profound paradigm shift in German foreign and security policy. Beyond these historic decisions, however, there is an photo editor urgent need for a strategic debate on the specific implementation and impact of the changing times on German foreign and security policy. This raises the question of what the German armed forces can and should do within the framework of the EU and NATO military alliance. Greater defense spending does not automatically produce greater security. EU member states have spent more than 100 million euros on weapons, four times what Russia spends. Despite this, Europe's defense capabilities lag far behind those of other countries due to a lack of interoperability and structural duplication of European armed forces, as well as an inefficient use of available resources. In addition to frequent calls for reforms to the procurement system of the German Armed Forces, closer integration and greater unification of the armies within the alliance are also essential.
